Class Description: Scrappy Applique is a magical, fun and forgiving raw edge applique collaging technique suitable for quilters at any level. It encourages individuals to experiment with various methods, including basic quilting, applique, and free-motion techniques. Participants choose their project, pattern, colors, top-stitching, and finishing techniques, then assemble fabrics into eye-catching designs.

Project size: 18" by 18" approximate depending on which pattern you choose

When: Thursday, June 12 - 8:30 am to 5:00 pm

Pattern/Kit Fee: Pattern Book $12.00/Kit Fee
Basic Kit includes Pellon, Misty Fuse, Totally Stable and Coats and Clark clear Poly thread (no Fabric included) $25.00.
Full kit includes all of the above plus fabric, micron pen, parchment paper, everything you need $40.00

Supplies/Fabric:
Scrappy Applique Workshop Requirements:
- Scrappy Applique Pattern
-Various fabric*** for the applique piece (10 fat eighths would be perfect)
-Thread that coordinates with the collage fabric
-Bobbin thread
-Micron***
-A large teflon sheet or Reynolds Wrap parchment paper***
-2.5 yards fusible web (We recommend Mistyfuse with a teflon sheet or parchment paper)
-2 yds lightweight, non-woven, fusible interfacing (We prefer Pellon 906f)
-1 yd tear away iron on stabilizer (We recommend Sulky Totally Stable)
-clear polyester thread
Suggested supplies:
-iron
-large pressing surface (an old towel is ideal)
-scissors (large and small)
-rotary cutter
-straight pins
-basting pins or spray
-marking utensil
-plastic baggies for extra cut collage pieces
-Machingers Gloves (optional, but recommended if free motion topstitching and/or quilting)
-Dritz Fray Check (optional)

Classroom Preparation
Each student needs their own sewing machine, iron, and pressing surface. Set up common cutting stations. Students will need a little over a yard of table top space to themselves.

Feathered & Fury Pattern Book includes 8 templates (Bunny, Dog, Birds, Horse, Unicorn, Rooster, Cat and Birds.
Pups Pattern Book includes 36 dog breeds in craft size

Instructor bio:

My name is Gail Tennis and I’m thrilled to share my love of quilting with you. Alongside my wonderful husband Kinney, I co-own a creative haven "Sew Happy Memories" where we offer classes, long-arm services, space and equipment rentals for your unfinished projects, and—most importantly—a warm community where creativity can flourish. Kinney and I have been married for 44 years and, after 25 years of quilting together, we’re still going strong! I am a certified Scrappy Applique® teacher. I am from Patterson, California.
